Away from home for the first time? Nervous about coming home to
roommates instead of parents?
MC Parents is a ministry to Clearwater
Master's Commission from the members of First Assembly of God,
Clearwater . MC Parents genuinely "adopt" our students, providing
everything from prayer support to Sunday brunch to younger "siblings" .
More
than a home-away-from-home where students feel comfortable to spend
their time, this ministry builds intimate relationships that last a
lifetime.
Julia Mead, a mother of five,
recently made the decision to become an MC parent next year. When asked
why she wants to become an MC parent, she responded by saying,
"Now
that my kids have reached a certain age, I feel I can contribute more
and be of more help by having an MC student . . . there would be a good
role model for my daughters, and they can now see a teenager that they
can aspire to be."
Kim Rudolph, an MC mom
who has opened her home for several student states, "I love being an MC
parent because it gives us the opportunity to invest in the lives of
students. Since many of them came from all over the country, I am glad
to open my home, making them feel welcomed and loved, knowing that they
have a family near by to depend on. And I am sure their parents are
glad knowing that their kids are well taken care of."
Don't
worry about where to get a nice hot meal or a warm, motherly hug. MC
Parents are truly a gift from God, and in turn we get the opportunity
to bless them as well.
